| 06/26/03: Florida — Crane is dumped into creek | Dead Link | A 120-ton crane being used in the replacement of the Telogia Creek Bridge near the Juniper community collapsed the bridge and tumbled into the creek Monday morning. The crane was being used to drive pillings into the ground for the new bridge when witnesses said the bridge began to slowly sink under the cranes weight. No one was injured in the incident. Work crews were called in to retrieve the crane. |
The scene of the accident was the Global Oil Company in Revere. The worker eventually was extracted and there is no word on his condition. A 34-year-old Orange man was electrocuted and two others injured today in a mine accident in the NSW central west. This is the 22nd. AVOIDABLE incident reported to this site this year in which power lines were involved. There were 35 reported to this site in 2001 and 33 in 2002. Again, all were avoidable. Iowa State spokesman John McCarroll said crews were dismantling the crane's boom, which was in the down position.
