This is what a 5299 crane looks like when there is not enough timber under the tracks when trying to load it for transport. Luckily the crane was in a shop parking lot, with a smooth, level, hard surface.

The operator was walking the crane up on the trailer, when he felt it start to get tipsy, so he decided to swing the counterweight to the front and walk it up backward, this is when he found out that he did not have enough support under the track to swing.

The only damage was a couple of knicks out of the counterweight, and one very embarrassed shop foreman.

Lesson: Put sufficient timber or blocking under the tracks no matter were you are located.
